MIAM
(60 minutes)
A MIAM (Mediation Information and Assessment Meeting) is the first step of mediation. It’s a short, confidential meeting with a qualified mediator where you can learn about mediation and whether this alternative dispute resolution could help resolve your situation. Family Mediation can be used to resolve issues such as: children arrangements, pet arrangements, finances, properties and assets.
During the meeting, we will listen to your circumstances, explain how mediation works, and explore whether it is suitable for you. It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and understand your options before taking any further steps.
Joint Mediation Session
(90 minutes)
After the MIAM is complete from both parties, and the family mediator suggests mediation as a suitable option, a joint mediation session can be booked. A joint mediation session is where both parties come together with a neutral, trained mediator to discuss the issues that matter most, whether that’s arrangements for children, pets, finances, property and assets.
The session provides a safe and structured environment where each person has the opportunity to be heard. The mediator is there to guide the conversation, keep things constructive, and help you both explore practical solutions that work for everyone involved.
You remain in control of the decisions throughout. The mediator does not take sides or make judgments, but instead supports you in reaching your own agreements at a pace that suits you.
£120pp per hour
(£180pp per session)
Summary of Proposals
Once the joint mediation concludes and proposals have been decided by the parties, a Summary of Proposals can be drafted by the family mediator.
A Summary of Proposals are documents that sets out the arrangements you have reached during mediation. It clearly summarises what has been discussed and decided, covering areas such as finances, property, or arrangements for children or pets. It is not a legally binding document, but it provides a solid foundation for turning your agreement into a formal legal order if you choose to do so.
Having the Summary of Proposals gives you clarity, reassurance, and a clear record of your decisions, helping both parties move forward with confidence.
